Flamboyant gladiators of India
The summer season marks the beginning of the breeding period for the peafowls in Indian forests. Males hold on to potential territories, hoping to attract the attention of passing females. The territories are fiercely protected against rival males. The two males seen in the photo battled for better part of the day, until one of them emerged victorious. While on a safari, I got my car positioned for the best possible view of the battle and waited to capture the perfect moment of fight.
