The elevators of Lisbon. Considered national heritage, they are one of the most authentic ways to move around Lisbon. There are 3 original elevator lines since its inauguration in 1884. Elevator do Lavra, da Bica and da Glória. The opening of the second line was the Glória Elevator, communicating since 1885 the Restauradores Square with the San Pedro de Alcántara viewpoint, the work of the engineer Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, transports travelers to the Upper Quarter in its more than 260 meters of rise.
