A Cratena leaps to reach another twig of hydroids on which to feed and lay its eggs. It lives clinging to colonies of large hydrozoans, such as Eudendrium racemosum, an animal organism similar to the shape of a small bush. It lays its eggs on it. The summer here in the Mediterranean gives us many images like this even at a few meters depth where the light is stronger and the water more crystalline, a favorite environment for this species of nudibranchs. Colorful, photogenic like few others, they represent the main subject of underwater macro photography in this sea . Learning to observe them without disturbing them is the fundamental element for grasping their most natural positions to fix in a beautiful photograph!
