This Oriental Scops Owl was photographed in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Local residents had been hearing its distinctive night call and mentioned they had only briefly seen it once. After receiving the information, I arrived at the location early in the morning and began searching the dense bushes where the owl was believed to be roosting.
After more than an hour of careful observation, I finally located the subject hidden deep within the foliage. I chose to wait patiently for better natural light as the sun began to rise. The wait extended to four hours as the owl remained still and partially concealed.
After nearly seven hours in total, the owl slowly moved out from the dense bush and perched openly on a single branch framed by a soft green background. In that brief but powerful moment, the subject gave a direct eye contact
