Serpula vermicularis. It lives in a self-produced calcareous tube attached to the substrate, from which its red-orange, two-lobed gill tuft protrudes. It usually prefers dimly lit crevices. If approached too quickly, it retreats into the calcareous tube. This photo shows its characteristic umbrella-shaped operculum, which, once retracted into the tube, protects it from attackers.
