Ostankino Tower Framed

The shared subject is the Ostankino TV Tower in Moscow, Russia, viewed from between residential buildings. Photographers are drawn to its tall, slender structure and distinctive lighting, which contrasts with the repetitive, block-like forms of surrounding apartment buildings. The images vary in time of day—some show the tower during twilight or night with illuminated bands of color, while others capture it in daylight or with motion blur from long exposure. The framing consistently places the tower vertically between two buildings, emphasizing its height and isolation within the urban grid. What unites the group is the repeated visual motif of the Ostankino Tower seen as a central, illuminated element framed by the dense, uniform architecture of Moscow’s housing blocks.
