One of the most underrated species in the world of Reptiles discovered in India. Fan-throated Lizards often release their fan which is enclosed in their chest to call for a mate or for a territorial fight. This series is one of the longest territorial fights we ever witnessed and they nearly tore each other apart with their deadly jaws and claws. Their appearence often reminds of the age of Dragons. Even organisations like BBC Earth have recently made a full time documentation of this reptile with this unique phenomenon of territorial fight.
One of the best series ever captured in Ahmednagar. We were lucky enough as the sun was so far the biggest we ever witnessed and these two male blackbucks were having a great time enjoying this wonder !
Sunsets are proof that endings can often be beautiful too
After years of visit to the horizons of Ahmednagar city finally one fine evening came across this herd of playfull Chinkara ( Indian Gazelle ) in dusk. It was a lovely and once in a lifetime opportunity to witness and photograph this beautiful moment which lasted for a minute or two.
One of the most dramatic shots I got ever as it looks like the sun is observing the life on earth. The mountain, the sun, the orange ether in the sky, the carpet of trees and finally the Blackbuck complimenting the scenario is one of the dreamy frames I've ever got in Maharashtra which we can only dream of getting in Masai Mara.
That was the rare fighting of Fan throated lizards mail for territory and also for meting with femail. It is an egg-laying animal that lives on rocky terraces. It ranges in size from six to eight centimeters.
