The children of the village in the vicinity are leaving their foot-prints on the Matla river bed at West Bengal, India. They are the wards of the poor fishermen and who struggle for their livelihood from morning to night. School-going is a far-off wish to them. These children help the guardian's bearing nets, rowing boats, catching fishes and even to make reach the collections to the fish-depot. But this joy knows no bound when they are free of work. Through my lens i have tried to depict the boundless JOY of their abysmal Happiness.

A Child

I met her when I was working on documentary project on malnutrition in Madhya Pradesh, India, for an NGO named 'Jan Sahas'. While conducting meetings with villagers, I always preferred to sit among children as I love to take their pictures. Mostly they were friendly, always wanted to be pictured, except this beautiful girl I noticed sitting silently, puzzled and lost. She neither played with other kids nor did she smiled. I felt her childhood was missing!

I was going for a regular morning walk on a very cold winter day,when I spotted this Mother Monkey with her child cuddled together in deep sleep on a wall, First I thought that I should not disturbed their sleep but could not hold within myself to see such a bonding between a Mother and Child, The weather was beautiful with the morning sunlight just behind the trees, The surrounding greenery as the background was adding much more to make the image feel more cozy, so I decided to capture this warm motherly love so entangled in deep sleep.
