Fishermen use a large net, about 80 to 130 square meters wide. The four corners of the net are fixed with four large bamboo poles planted into the riverbed, and connected to a rotating axle placed on a hut via a long pulley system.
To pull up this enormous net, the person sitting on the hut has to use two feet to step on the ladder of the pulley, rotating it to make the net rise above the water surface. When the net is pulled up, people swim a small boat to the middle of the river, gently using their hands to push the belly of the net from the outside to the inside, directing the shrimp and fish towards the exit at the bottom of the net. When the fish and shrimp are gathered in one place, they gently grasp the mouth of the exit and pull it down to allow the fish and shrimp to fall into the boat.
