The name \"Ripaljka\" was given after the folk expression for jumping-ripping, rip water. The waterfall was protected in 1948 as a natural treasure and consists of a number of cascades with a total length of 40 meters. The main waterfall - Velika Ripaljka, is between 11 and 14 meters high, depending on the amount of water. The biggest is when the snow melts, and the smallest in September and October. The waterfall originates on the river Gradašnica, whose name is mentioned in Turkish writings.
