After a mother cheetah and her 2 cubs stopped for a drink in Kruger National Park, this sub adult cheetah looked up towards its mother in a quiet moment of reassurance. Bathed in soft, muted golden light, the image shows the bond between cheetah, as young cubs start to learn the skills to survive on their own.

Later in the year I got the privilege to see the cubs together in an adult coalition, just before they were moved to another reserve to improve cheetah genetic diversity across Southern Africa.
