In Nanzha, Wuzhen, Jiaxing, while sweeping the streets, I met an octogenarian carpenter who was skilled in woodworking. It is said that they are one of the few indigenous people and their houses were passed down from their ancestors. The old man started working in this field at the age of sixteen. After the reform and opening up, he once led a team to repair Wuzhen. The wooden beds displayed in the Dongzha Folk Customs Museum and many plaques in the Xizha were all made by him. We were interested and enthusiastically explained woodworking to us, allowing us to experience it firsthand and demonstrate it ourselves. The pictures were taken at this time.
