Life in Makoko\\\'s floating slum (Lagos, Nigeria) is a story of untold hardships. Homes perch on stilts above a polluted and hazardous environment and clean drinking water is a luxury many cannot afford. Heavy rains flood the settlement multiple times annually, spreading contaminants. Rising temperatures speed up bacterial growth in stagnant water, increasing the risk and frequency of disease outbreaks. Makoko\\\'s inhabitants use canoes to move from one to another. Foreigners have described it as the Venice of Africa, and life here is incredibly difficult, but has become a symbol of resilience.
