Ofiuco River and Antares in Bosque Alegre
After a long time without doing night photography, I requested permission from my friends at the astronomical observatory of Córdoba Román and Martín Leiva and I went last Sunday to test the Askar 180 and obtain records of this impressive cloud complex.
Although it is a sky with a lot of light pollution due to the lights of the city of Villa Carlos Paz, I think I was able to obtain nice details with this lens.
This region of the sky is very incredible due to the intensity and quantity of colors presented by the clouds of interstellar gas and dust. It is formed mainly by absorption nebulae (dark clouds of dust that do not allow the passage of light from the stars or nebulae behind them), reflection nebulae, their color being a function of the color of the star whose light they are reflecting, and emission nebulae formed by ionized Hydrogen, H II. In the vicinity of the red supergiant Antares, orange and yellow emission nebulae dominate, while in the vicinity of ρ Ophiuchi blue reflections dominate.
