THE PARK IS OPEN!
Whenever possible, I try to use a cinematic approach, so that the viewer gradually discovers the characters and their environment. For that, I wanted to create the kind of evocative images that one would expect from a Jurassic Park opening scene: a Plough-the-Earth symmetrical big tusker photographed in movement, frontally, one step away from the viewer.
The quintessence of such a big tusker is his enormous ivory. The elephant came so close to my camera that his eyes were not seen. This gives a sense of anonymity to the character and places all the focus on his most notable feature. The movement towards the camera engages the viewer. The magnificent giant seems to almost step out of the frame.
This is a fresh subject who has never been photographed like that before.
