Black and White Female Portrait Contest Reference
We invite you to participate in the "Black and White Female Portrait" contest — a space for expressive portrait photography where the female image is revealed through the interplay of light, shadow, and tone.
We are looking for works in which the author conveys the individuality, character, and inner aesthetics of the model through a monochrome palette. The absence of color sharpens perception: the interplay of light and shadow, texture, posture, facial expressions, and emotional resonance come to the forefront. It is these nuances — the gaze, gesture, contrast, and depth of tone — that should form the foundation of the frame. The black-and-white approach here is not just a stylistic choice, but a full-fledged means of expression: it sets the mood, emphasizes form, creates graphic expressiveness, and enhances the author's story.
Accepted:
- Studio and natural portraits executed in black and white, demonstrating expressive work with light and tone
- Frames where the subject occupies at least 2/3 of the area and remains the compositional center
- Shots featuring other models, provided they are organically integrated and do not shift the visual focus away from the main subject
Not Accepted:
- Photos of subjects under 18 years of age
- Frames where the woman is not the main subject or gets lost in the composition
- Color photographs or images processed to simulate black and white without proper tonal refinement
