Elderly People Photography Contest: General Reference and Guidelines
We invite you to participate in the "Elderly People" contest — a space for expressive portrait and documentary photography, where life experience, wisdom, and the aesthetics of the years lived come together into a cohesive artistic vision.
We are looking for works in which the author reveals the individuality, character, and inner depth of the subject through harmonious interaction with their environment. Grandmothers at the market, grandfathers by the building entrance, veterans — each of them is unique, and it is precisely these nuances — a piercing gaze, wrinkles as an honest map of a life lived, posture, emotional state, naturalness, or conscious dramaturgy — that should form the foundation of the frame. Here, wrinkles are not merely a sign of age, but a full-fledged tool of artistic expression: they set the mood, emphasize character, create deep textural accents, and amplify the author's narrative.
Accepted:
- Portrait and reportage shots where elderly individuals are organically woven into their environment and enhance the author's concept
- Images where the elderly person remains the absolute compositional and narrative focal point of the frame
- Shots featuring multiple elderly individuals, as well as younger people or children, provided they are seamlessly integrated into the story and do not shift the visual and emotional focus away from the main elderly subject
Not Accepted:
- Images where the elderly person is not the primary subject or gets lost in the overall composition
- Images where the subject is visually perceived as a young person, lacking clear signs of lived years and "scars of time"
