35AWARDS Beach Photography Contest Guidelines
The beach is a unique environment where natural light, textures, and human stories converge. We view the beach not as a backdrop for cliché resort postcards, but as a stage for visual storytelling: genre scenes, documentary observations, atmospheric landscapes, and street photography.
The primary criterion is the clear readability of the location and its atmosphere. The viewer must instantly recognize the setting as a beach, even if there is no water visible in the frame. Sand, sun loungers, beach umbrellas, footprints, characteristic lighting, and coastal infrastructure all work together to establish a recognizable context.
Photography must be taken exclusively on the beaches of seas, rivers, or lakes. Natural light, the texture of the sand, and the coastal atmosphere are integral to the work.
Accepted:
- Street photography and documentary shots taken at the beach (sea, river, or lake) that convey the authentic atmosphere of beach life.
Not accepted:
- Images featuring explicit nudity or erotic undertones
- Tight close-up portraits (lacking environmental context)
- Macro photography of shells, stones, and other small, isolated details
- Photographs taken outside the beach area that fail to convey a coastal context
