Macro: Duet Photography Category Guidelines
Macro photography is not just technical magnification, but the creation of new worlds. The "Macro: Duet" category is dedicated to the visual dialogue of two elements in the frame. We are looking for stories built on the interaction, contrast, or harmony of two objects.
This could be an encounter between two living creatures, a symbiosis of the living and non-living, or the interplay of two inorganic textures. The main subject of this category is not an individual object, but the connection between them.
The main criterion is the presence of two clearly readable objects and a visual or meaningful connection between them. The viewer should instantly perceive this pair as a unified compositional or narrative whole.
Accepted:
- Photographs in which two main objects are clearly and unambiguously readable
- Images demonstrating clear interaction, contrast, or harmony between these two elements
- Works where the connection between objects is the main semantic and compositional center of the frame
Not accepted:
- Images with a single isolated object (portraits of solitary insects, plants, or abstract textures without a clear second element)
- Frames with three or more objects where the composition turns into a chaotic accumulation of details, losing focus on the "duet"
- Photographs where the connection between objects is random, unclear, or lacks semantic and visual significance
