Food Photography: Cakes and Pastries Contest Guidelines
"Food Photography: Cakes and Pastries" is food photography where technique serves appetite. Not contrived "appetizingness" and not digital imitation — but honest representation of the material: the gloss of fresh glaze, the crumbliness of shortcrust pastry, the velvet of buttercream, the fragility of meringue. Light sculpts volume, shadow reveals layers, composition highlights detail — and texture becomes tangible. The viewer doesn't just see the dessert, they feel the coolness of ganache, hear the crunch of cake layers, and reach for a spoon.
Accepted:
- Cakes, pastries, cupcakes and other confectionery items with cream, glaze or filling
- Close-ups of textures, cross-sections, serving details and preparation process (cream piping, sprinkling, slicing) — provided the dessert remains the focal point of the frame; hands are permitted only as part of the dessert preparation or serving process
Not accepted:
- Any other food not related to cakes and pastries (baked goods without cream/glaze, bread, pies with savoury fillings, main dishes, appetizers, beverages, etc.)
- Hands or people in the frame without direct connection to the dessert preparation or serving process
