I emerge from the freezing water and lean my back against a large boulder warmed by the sun. The contrast between the hot rock and the chill still vibrates deep within me.
I breathe in the pure, crisp air with full lungs. I watch the drops of water glistening down my skin and the reflection of light shimmering off the water onto the treetops.
Every pore of my skin awakens, the blood pumping hard through my veins to shield me from the lingering cold left on my body by the stream.
I close my eyes and the roar of the waterfall softens into a muffled, deep rumble, just like when I sink beneath the surface of the clear pool.
I feel the raw, untamed force of nature washing over me, carrying away the exhaustion and tension of a life that is too often exhausting.
There is no longer a boundary line between me, the rock, and the current. I can feel the sap flowing beneath the bark of the trees, the solid structure of the rock beneath my body, and the wind stirring the branches, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth.
I lie still, eyes closed, my heart full of joy, fully aware now that I am part of the nature around me, in a union so perfect that it no longer needs words.
