Farm Isabis sits in the Gamsberg region at an elevation of around 1700 meters, completely free from light pollution. Surrounded by mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and countless dead trees, it’s a dream playground for landscape photographers like myself.
On this particular evening, a rare winter cold front approached, pulling in a few dramatic clouds — an unusual sight for the season. The following weeks, however, turned out to be crystal clear, more than making up for it.
We discovered this striking dead tree earlier in the day while exploring the construction site of the upcoming remote observatories — you can even spot them in the background. With skies this pristine, I can only imagine the incredible astrophotographs that will soon be captured from those remote domes.
