Description
These images depict gondolas moored in the Venetian Lagoon with the island of San Giorgio Maggiore visible across the water. The composition relies on the strong vertical lines of the wooden pilings and the distinct silhouette of the church tower against the sky. Photographers utilize various times of day, ranging from bright daylight to the deep blue tones of twilight, to capture different lighting conditions on the water. The location is a classic view from the San Marco basin looking toward the historic island. A recurring visual motif unites the group: the orderly arrangement of dark boats against the reflective surface of the sea.
