The polar bear is a carnivorous bear whose native range lies largely within the Arctic Circle. Although it is the sister species of the brown bear, it has evolved to occupy a narrower ecological niche, with many body characteristics adapted for cold temperatures, for moving across snow, ice and open water, and for hunting seals, which make up most of its diet. Although most polar bears are born on land, they spend most of their time on the sea ice.
Because of expected habitat loss caused by climate change, the polar bear is classified as a vulnerable species.
One of many sites I visited during my 5500km drive throughout South New Zealand.
I removed my shoes and walked into the shallow water to get a good angle. A raw photo taken using a tripod. For each frame I take 3 shots of automatic, far, and near to provide detail through out the photo. Each of the three shots has four exposures resulting in 12 photos all merged into one.
The original color photo has an adjustment of tone, clarify, sharpness, saturation, and dehaze all help to enhance the photo. When converted to black and white additional adjustments are made to the tone.
This is my long dreamed of place to be. Although there are tons of great photos online already, it still wowed me at first sight. It was supposed to be a clear blue sky, but the smog from wild fire near by (or possibly the big one in California) blended in at sunset, adding a soft texture to the scene as well as the purple tint in the sky. I was speechless, watching this magical sea stack standing in front of me in reflection. She's like a girl dancing, twisting her body, and showing off her sexiest curve in the most magical moment of the day. I just love it.
Momentousness. A brief instant of significance; genuine emotions firing ablaze. Gazing into the eyes of such wise immensity has the power of instantly forcing you to place all of your certainties into recalculated perspective. Elephants; minds which do not forget, bodies whose immeasurable strength can easily destroy... yet, they choose to live peacefully, avoiding conflict at all costs. Something we certainly all can learn from.
When your day begins with this beautiful scenery of the Moraine Lake, there is not much to talk about.
We sat down for a while and admire, after which we hit the slope and headed deeper into Banff National Park.

CONCEPT: Old, dated worlds get a view of a woman in modern couture... reactions ensue. In the end, they ended up always admiring her from afar.

A one-hundred-eight year old woman shares a touching moment with the young. Her wrinkles on her aged skin represent her experiences as a mother, while the hand on the left is pure, smooth, and yet to learn of the true meaning of life. We visited this old woman to feed her soup, and bless her with the word of the Bible. This special photo was taken in a remote informal settlement of South Africa; 20km away from the nearest town.
After destroying a nest of mallard duck that was found through sea hay, this adult eagle has given way to her young and she has come to land on the shore to wait patiently for his young to finish his meal
Kids are very hard to teach the value of life and time. They often take everything for granted. This work is my guidance for the future to my kids (one of two is on the picture): look forward, even everything is against you. Try to hold on any opportunities. Value time you have. Do your best. Know, you are not alone. See the wonder in minor but dream big.
I was at Two Jack Lake to shoot Mount Rundle in an early morning this summer at Banff National Park, Canada. I was amazed by this morning glow and its reflection in the lake. This is a bonus picture that turns out to be fantastic as it's not a popular and classic angle at Two Jack Lake.
The challenge was to capture both the morning glow colours and the details of the mountain, trees and the foreground due to a great difference in exposure values for the foreground and background.
The post-processing mainly involved blending exposures for the foreground and background. Contrast was improved and colours were recovered.
This is one of my favorite photos because of the thrill behind it. This mother bear and two Cubs were spotted roadside on route to Jasper, Alberta, Canada.
We were told clearly to not go within 70 m of the bear and to be especially cautious when it's with Cubs.
Out of intense curiosity, I jumped out, ran close to them(about 30-40m) fir this shot. The Cubs got a little scared and started to run. I thought to myself that I gotta run back before the mother bear chases me down. Didn't even look back, ran straight back to the car noticing the bear family unbothered, casually walking away.
- The rating of photographers by countries and cities is based on the three best photos of the author and their relative position in each separate nomination. Rating in the nomination "Mobile Photography" is taken into account to a lesser extent for rating formation. The list shows one photo of the author with the best rating.
- Only those photos have been published in the list that passed the second stage of voting.
More recently, we have made an improvement and now we have a new feature - "Series uploading." Even now, you can download from 3 to 10 photos in the series, united by a common idea. Voting for the series will take place separately from other series in their nominations. vote principle remains the same as for single photos. At the moment, series uploading is available for nominations: "Children's Photography", "Wild Animals", "Staged Photography" and "Reportage photo". This feature is available for any improved account.
